U.S. FLEET.
FEW DESERTERS REPORTED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATTON—COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, Aug. 4. So far only about a dozen deserters from the American fleet have been reported, but until the fleet sails the full number will not be known. The police will be supxdiecl with complete lists of all the missing men. The Inspector-General of Poliee issued a statement at the end of the fleet’s visit, recording the fact that there had been no trouble with the visitors, and the conduct of all ranks had been exemplary. BERTHING ARRANGEMENTS AT WELLINGTON. (IIY Tf'T.neP » t>tt—ASSOCIATION'.I WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. Tentative arrangements have been made to berth the IT.S. flagship Seattle, the Richmond, the flagship of No. 8 squadron, and the Pennsylvania at the new Pinitea wharf, where the H.M.S. Hood lay. The hospital ship will, he berthed on the opposite side of the harbour, and the rest of the fleet will remain, in the stream.
The fleet- is due at Wellington at 1 p.m. on the 11th inst.
