ELTHAM FIRE BRIGADE.
SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL BALL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Superintendent Nuttall and his men were amply repaid last night for their strenuous labours during the past few weeks in preparing for their annual ball, for there was a big crowd present. Over £35 were taken at the door, and in addition a large number of tickets had been sold.
The hall was elaborately decorated with a large hell and coloured streamers. The stage was also effectively decorated, in which the firemen’s reel, beautifully covered with coloured paper, formed a prominent object. A liberal supper bad' been provided by the people generally, and the tables were heavily laden with all sorts of tempting delicacies. On the supper table stood a model rescue tower, made and equipped by Lieut. Murray. The ladies in charge of the supper arrangements are to be congratulated on the very complete arrangements that had been made to., provide for the large crowd present. The net proceeds will he devoted to the fire brigades’ annual competitions, to l>e held in Eltham next year.
