j ALLEGED THEFT. (BY TELFGRAPR PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, July 31. A charge of stealing £39 11s 4d, the property of the New Zealand Government. was preferred against a young man employed in the civil service this morning. A remand of seven days was granted, the magistrate ordering the interim suppression of the name. SELLING LIQUOR WITHOUT A LICENSE. CHRISTCHURCH, July 31. Bert Wiliam Munn, a private inquiry agent, was sentenced by the magistrate this morning to one month's imprisonment on a- cnarge of selling liquor without a license, and on each of nine other similar charges was fined £3.
