DEMONSTRATION FARM.

ANNUAL MEETING AT ' ’ J STRATFORD. The work of the Demonstration Farm at Stratford was reviewed at the annual general meeting held to-day at Stratford in the office of the secretary. (Mr W. Power). Mr J. W. Deem (chairman) j} re sided, and there was a good attendance. ANNUAL REPORT. This was lead as under: Further improvements of the farm have been effected during the past year. A water supply has been installed which will permit of reticulation to most of the paddocks. About six acres have been stumped, cleared and cultivated. The piggeries have been improved, and new fencing erected along the river. The general condition of the farm has been well maintained. All buildings have been painted, and the pastures well cared for. The crops, generally were good, swedes showing much improvement on the crops of recent years. Mangolds were somewhat below average, due probably to the comparatively cold season. Carrots, soft turnips, chou mollier, peas and vetches were all satisfactory. The herd has again shown marked improvement in the total of butter-fat production. Mr Hartwig resigned hi 9 position as farm manager, and Mr Grierson has been appointed. Your '■■ommittee placed on record their appreciation of Mr Hartwie’s competent and energetic services, which have contributed so much to the successful °PO>'ati°ns of the farm during his term. The balance-sheet ..showed that the farm is in a sound position. The freehold property stands at £5798, buildings £IBB7, plant £230, and live stock £1067. All buildings have been writ- -*-4 ten down annually. h The profit and loss account shows, a net profit of £2Bl on the year’s workT/ages totalled £613, interest £447. and, manures £lll. The total received for milk sent to the factory amounted to £1333. The hank overdraft stood at £6960, and the amount in the genera] fund after adding net profit for the year was £2487.
