A Roval Commission has recommended the abandonment of the group settlement scheme in the south-west of the State, the conditions for wives being such as to drive the men off the land. ; ' There was evidence that not more than 50 per cent, would succeed, and, up to April 31 last, 31 per cent, ot the migrants and 4=l. per cent, of the Anstralians had left.
