BETTER PROSPECTS.
FOR WOOL, TRADE. SY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT, LONDON, July 11. At the London wool sales there was an average selection of merinos and a good offering of crossbreds and prices were firm. Title New Zealand “A.H.W.” clip made up to 18d and everaged 16d to 16J-d per pound. The Bradford correspondent- of the Yorkshire Posit says: “For the moment the dark cloud which hung over the wool trade is considerably dispelled by the manner in which wool sold in London, but nevertheless spinners and manufacturers are not convinced that wool has reached the low water mark. If the opening wool sale prices are maintained throughout the series they believe a lower basis will be reached when the new clip is marked three- or four months hence. They are shaping their policy on this 'assumption and therefore they are unwilling to speculate.” The Yorkshire Observer says: “Though) opinion a.t thus early -stage of the wool sales is cautious, the view appears to he growing that-the wool -price drop has definitely exhausted itself. Monday’s sales of Australian wool 'are keenly awaited. The main development at present in Bradford is an increased inquiry, which has resulted from confidence that a substantial volume of business' is maturing.”
