THE SHOW.
THE ROOT CROPS. VERY FINE DISPLAY. . A particularly strong section was the root crops, and one of the judges, Mr. J. W. Deem, commented very favourably on the display. This year the swedes showed a marked improvement over exhibits of the past few years, the roots having previously suffered considerably from the ravages of pests. The carrots were magnificent, but Mr. Deem considered that the mangolds were somewhat rough, though weighty.
