ONE MAN KILLED

THREE OF PARTY INJURED

(BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, June 29. About two o’clock this morning a motor car plunged over a bank on Salamanca Road, near Kelburn tramway bridge. The result was that a young man named Maclntyre, believed to be a resident of the Hutt, w r as killed. Jack King, of Webb Street, was injured internally. Mrs. King sustained an injured back, and a man named Helper suffered from a broken nose. All the injured are suffering from shock. The residents of Salamanca Road were aroused by Mrs. King and on hurrying down the road found the car capsized with two men inside. Four rescuers lifted the car and extricated Maclntyre, who was dead. King was unconscious. A doctor, police and ambulance were called by the rescuers, who were, in the meantime, unable to do more than to shield the injured from the rain. Helper stated that the car was moving slowly as,there was no light at the corner. He did not know how the accident happened. The party had spent the evening at a house at Kelburn. .

In connection with the Salamanca Road motor fatality, the deceased, Thomas Campbell Mclntyre,' was a single man, aged 29, an architect’s draughtsman residing in Lower Butt. He had been attending an evening at Kcltnrrn, at which fourteen were present. The deceased, with three others, left about 2 a.m. in a three-seater car. The accident occurred after the ear had travelled about 100 yards. It appears from the wheel ma,rk.s that the car got over too far into the water-table under the tramway bridge on the right hand side of the narrow road, which is about six yards wide. It then sheered off to the left side, going over the hank 15 yards away, dropping and overturning down a 15-foot bank on to a private road below. The other occupants are still in the hospital. Mr King has a fractured pelvis. The night was dark, and the road, which was steep, was wet and slippery. -
