Twenty-three Chinese have already been deported from France as a consequence of Sunday’s outrage, and 24 more are to be expelled. One hundred Chinese forced the doors of the Chinese Embassy, locked the Ambassador in his room, cut the telephone wire and compelled him to •sign a protest to M. Painleve against the presence of foreign troops- in China. The Legation suspects that nonChinese elements were behind the coup, which had evidently been most carefully planned. They hint that the hand of Moscow is possibly working against France. .
