Hill 15s, court costs, 8s; J. Rodger v. J. Peters £l3 9s, court costs £1 6s, solicitor’s fee £1 lls; same v. H. Lockley £lO 15s, court costs £1 lls 6d, solicitor’s fee £1 lls. Jn the iudgment summon cases A. E. McDonald v. H. P. Hall, £9 13s 6d; and T. S. Hickey v. same, £lO 8s sd, defendant was ordered to pay amount before July 9. POLICE GASES. Edward Graham Araiyhata was charged that on June 11 he behaved ■in a disorderly manner in the Rahotu Hotel. There was a similar charge against Waiau Stewart. Constable Brenchley gave evidence that the defendants were fighting in the hotel at Rahotu last week. In reply to Air Baeyertz, the constable .said there was a general tussle in tile bar. Arawhaia. said he was sitting on a barrel when his mate came up to him and asked if he had brought up the horses, and witness said “not yet.” Waiau said he was a humbug and pulled him off the barrel, and before lie knew any more he was collared from behind and taken to the station. It was a friendly affair, according to witness. Waiau Stewart gave evidence that they on'y pulled each other in a friendly way.' They worked and slept together. His Worship said he was of opinion that they were so full of beer that they did not know what they were doing. In his opinion there was, a struggle, which was disorderly. Convicted and fined 20s each, with court costs 7s. Tori Kaluii was charegd with fighting P. Leather by (Air Brooker) on the 19tli day v of June. A second charge arose out of the same case, Pipi Leatherby being similarly charged. Constable Brenchley stated that they fought in the street, and Leatherby received a severe cut on the eye, which required eight stitches. Kahui was convicted and fined £2 and costs on the first charge, and £3 on the second with court costs. Leatherby was convicted and fined £2 for lighting and £5 for assault, with court costs £2 and two witnesses’ expenses 14s 6d each. OTHER CASES. For crossing in front of an approaching trail at Alokoia, Pohe Tito was fined £2 on one charge, and on the second was ordered to pay £2 expenses. It was stated by the Department that the mail train had to slow down to avoid danger. Defendant said he heard the whistle and tried to- stop the car, but the brakes did not act, and he put on reverse gear and the car stopped on the railway line. C. 11. Hastio was charged by the Inspector of Noxious Weeds for failing to clear gorse on a property held by him. A fine- -of £l, with costs ss, was imposed. —-Opunake Times.
