— ; SHIPBUILDING FIRMS SUFFER. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, June 22. The Beardmore Company’s report shows a net loss for the year after the payme-nt of debenture interest amounting to £503,000. No allowance is made for the depreciation of machinery. A dividend on preference shares was passed. Messrs Workman, Clark and Company showed a loss for the year, including debenture interest not yet paid, of £182,000, making the total deficit £2,571,925. The directors state it is only possible to keep the yards partially open by making contracts at prices showing a small margin. The cash in hand was only £892.
