WINTER SHOW.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A well-attended meeting of the executive of the Winter Show was held .last night, and many matters relating to ndxt week’s fixture were discussed. The secretary (Air. L. O. Hooker) read a letter from the Prime Minister in regard to the proposed visit of the Governor-General, stating that if it were at all possible his Excellency would make the visit to Hawera.
A request made by the executive for a late train from Hawera on Wednesday, July 1, ivas acknowledged by the Atinister of Railways, who said he would advise as soon as possible if the arrangements could be made. Various other details in connection with the show were discussed and it was reported that matters were going ahead very well. The general entries were the best the show had had, witii the exception of the school classes. This naturally was due to the epidemic in the early part of the year. Otherwise the list of entries was most satisfactory, and it was Oioted that the demand for space was so great that a number of outside exhibits could not be accommodated. Interest in the show generally was growing fast, and everything pointed to a record went for 1925.
