ENGINE AND ALARM SYSTEM. NEW PLANT FOR HAWERA. Hawera’s fire fighting appliances Avill shortly be brought right up to date by the purchase of a modern fire engine and pumping outfit and by the installation of a neAA 7 and thoroughly, efficent fire alarm system. The Hawera Fire Board went carefully into the matter, as reported in yesterday’s Star, and as a result the following resolution Avas passed: “Subiect to a faA 7 ourable report from the inspector and subject to necessary financial arrangements being made, the board be authorised to instal a Duplex patent fire alarm system and purchase a Dennis fire, engine and a 35 horsepower Dennis turbine pump, the chairman and local members to he a subcommittee to carry the resolution into effect and enter into such contracts as they deem necessary, the secretary receiving instructions to write -to the Minister for Internal Affairs to obtain permission to raise a loan of not more than £3000.”
