Another of Tfawera’s old landmarks is doomed to destruction. This morning, a commencement was made in cutting down the large macrocarpa tree in the post office residence grounds. This tree has long been a source of annoyance to those people living to the southward of the post office in Princes street, owing to its obstruction of the .view of the town clock. The end of the present month will see the departure from Hawera of Mr A. W. Slcjellerup, who goes to Nelson, where he will enter private business. During the five years that Mr Skjelierup has been in Hawera, associated with the Para Rubber Company he has done good work in connection with various sports' bodies and organisations. Perhaps he is l best known for his association with the Hawera Bowling Club the Swimming Club, the Retailers’ Association, and the A. and P. Association
