BOWLING
The social tendered to the ladies bvPark Club on Wednesday evening was an unqualified success, just on 70 ladies and gentlemen being present. An attractive programme had been prepared, the carrying out of which gave the utmost satisfaction. To start' with, progressive euchre was indulged in. Mrs Yinten (who, by the way, can boast of a large number of trophies won at similar gatherings) annexed the ladies’ ui/.e. winning the eight games played; and Mr W. H. Chadwick won the gentleman’s prize with seven games. Of the musical portion of the programme, although each performer was loudly applauded, Miss M. Barnes (quite a youthful singer) took the audience by surprise by the excellent manner in which she rendered the songselected by her, and had to respond to a double encore. Besides those mentioned in Thursday’s issue, the-follow-ing assisted at the social: Miss Rogers (late of Oamarii and Hastings), Miss W. Hoddle, and Mr T. Barnes. The success of the ,initial social will no doubt induce the club to hold others during the winter months.
