MOTORING MISHAPS.

ACCIDENT ON, MANCTAHI HILL, A motorist on a business tour through Taranaki bad an unpleasant experience near Kakaramea yesterday morning. It seems he pulled off on to the-soft part, of the road to let a Waggon go by, and skidding in the wet track went over and capsized before he could straighten up his car. The driver suffered a narstv scalp wound and the car had to be left at the scene of the accident till assistance, was received'from a garage. Further particulars of the accidentwhich took place on Manutahi hill go to .show that the motorist was. a Mr, Oa.vaye, of Wellington, who wa>s driving isu six-cylinder Hudson. Mr. J. W. Harding, of Hawera, who was on the scene of the accident at the time it "occurred, reported that a collision was narrowly averted with his car before the accident happened, lie pulling in close to the bank in order to avoid trouble. The ear when it went over the bank turned a complete somersault, landing on the wheels. Mr. Harding, with, the assistance of some other travellers who had also arrived on the scene, rendered firsti aid to the injured man, who. had received a severe cut on one ear as well as. the sca.lp' wound, arid brought him on to Hawera, where he wa® attended to by Dr. Biiist. The car whs considerably damaged, as also were some sample weighing • machines ancl typewriters that were being carried on the back seat. OAR AND CYCLE COLLIDE. As the result of a collision between a motor-car and a, motor-cycle on the Normanby-Okaiawa road early last night, a young man named Howard Webber, of Inaha, was admitted to the Hawera hospital suffering from a broken leg. Webber was aiding a Henderson motor-cvcle. and the ear was driven ’ by Oswald Steiner, *of Skeet Boad, Kanuni. Enquiry at the hosoital this morning elicited the information that the patient was doing well.
