CALLER FORCIBLY EJECTED.
SECRETARY LOSES URBANITY. The tranquil calm of past months had disappeared, taking with it the urbanity of a lifetime. Banging hammers'and ripping saws drowned the staccato clicking of typewriters. Into this bedlam a timorous caller forced Ins ■ way, only to be. forcibly ejected —indignant —and bewildered. After regaining his mental balance, lie made cautious enquiries and was greeted with strange, enigmatic replies, delivered with an air of mystery: “£4OOO in the air”-; “last chance”; “somebody’s got to win it”; “getting the ballot boxes ready.” lie then realised that preparations were under way for the drawing of New Zealand’s “Gigantic Art Union” next month. The making of ballot boxes and other paraphernalia accounted for the sawing and hammering. And the secretary was “up to his eyes” with the liundred-and-one things for the final stages of the “Gigantic Art Union” —details that were more, elaborate than usual, as each ticket lias ISO chances of winning prizes. The: ejected one then realised what a big thing this Art Union is, and also that it could put him on “easy street” for life—so he strolled down to the. nearest leading tobacconist and bought some more tickets so as to increase his chances of winning. And it’s not too late for von to do the same—provided you act promptly. You can still buy Gigantic Art Union tickets, 2/6 .each or 9 for £l, from any leading tobacconist, sports depot, etc. Or you can send your money to the Secretary, “Gigantic Art Union.” Mr j Roy S. Johnston, 31 Hunter Street, Wellington. You will be just in time if you write at once, but should tickets he sold out your money will he refunded in full. —6
