HAWERA MUNICIPAL BAND.

ANNUAL BALL.

The committee of the Municipal Band is making energetic preparations for its coming annual ball, which is fixed for Tuesday, May 26, in the Winter Show Buildings. With a view to making the ball the greatest success possible the Band has enlisted the effective services of the Women’s National Reserve in Hawera. The memof the Reserve have responded most freely. At its meeting last night Mr W. Hawkins, representing the Band, waited on the Reserve, and was most cordially received. The details necessary to be carried out for decorating and for the supper arrangements were fully discussed. It was resolved that members of the Reserve be present at the hall on Monday night so as to arrange to cooperate with the bandsmen. The latt.?r will do everything the Reserve Jequires in the way of preparation. Already all the trifles, fruit salads and cakes required are promised, and there is no clohbt abopt the rest of tne supper being given. Mr Hooker has promised to carry out the general scheme of decorations, and Mrs Lovell has undertaken to do the designing of the supper tables, the Band’s colours, red and gold, to be worked in autumn leaves and flowers. Those parts of the arrangements are in most competent hands. The Band is looking forward to a great success. It may be mentioned that the Band will play a number of dances on the programme. Everything promises well for the function.
