EG MON'T-W AN G ANU J CLUB. MEETING OF MEMBERS. Prior to the meet of the EgmontWanganui Hunt Club at Messrs. Aiken Bros, on Friday, a general meeting of mem hers wais held in the club’s rooms aft Waveriey. A large number of members was present. The annual Hunt races were generally div caused, arrangements being put ir hand, but details were left over. The race meeting will be held in the spring after the point-to-point meeting at Waveriey and Manaia. No fixtures o,f dates were made, except the point-to-point at Waveriey for July 11. Chi that evening the Hunt, Ball will be held. A sunpLiilsi of £34 is over front the ball of last year, and this > a, very satisfactory balance. At the request of the Kakaramea Sports! Committee it was decided that the hounds, meet at Ivakaramea bn May 28, the day after the sports, on new country generously provided by Kakaramea farmer®. The meet fixed for June, 13 at “Castle Hi!!'’ was, at the request oif the owner of that property, Mr. G. V. Pearce postponed to a later date, namely, July 4. Tins was the date o-f Mr. B. W Harvey’?? fixture, but he generously stood down and altered his fixture to June. On the motion of Mr. G. H. Washer. a remit was framed for the conference dealing with race meetings of those clubs 'whoso country is within the] jurisdiction of two metropolitan racing bodies, as this club is, to the effect that the club may elect each year in which, district it shall.’ race, and the meeting .shall come under the jurisdiction. of the racing district decided upon. Tt was mentioned that the New Zealand Hunt Chibs’ conference has decided to import if possible clog hound*) from England to, keep up the breed of hounds in New Zealand, Which information was received with general approbation. An offer by the Wanganui Jockey Club, to, purchase,' the Hunt Club’s t-otallis, ah or permits on terms, to be arranged was discussed, bint if was resolved that no action be taken,, a;s it wais considered that, although members do, not hunt to race, yet hunt cluib meetings popularise the sport, of hunting, arid such a valuable and permanent asset as a. totalis at or permit should not be parted with, by the club without very matured deliberation. GENERAL NOTES (By “Yoicks Over).
On Friday bounds met *4 “Goman Lee,” Waveriey. The owners of that very fine property, Messrs. Aiken Bros., hospitably entertaining the hunt. Warm. weather conditions again, spoiled good hunting. The weather has been very mild and warm sn far this season, and, whilst very much appreciating it as weather, bunting folk would prefer it colder. Scent does not appear to last. Many hares mere found on Friday, but the bounds could not maintain tire scent. There were many runs, but all too short, and no kill resulted •
TTumtermian Myles hats the pack in fine fettle, and if Lady Diana sanitas many good runs should yet be the fortune of members this, season. There was a, large and well-mounted field out at Waveriey—about forty. The next meet will be ai Mr. T. MdPhillips’s homestead property, Mam.aia, on Wednesday.
