The Mangoekewa rose another two feet- this morning. There were heavy showers during last night, hut the weather had a brighter outlook toIt is reported that several bridges have been seriously damaged on. the road to Marokopa, one concrete bridge over the Iviretehere haying dropped tour feet below the road level. .Two. miles of road near Marokopa dairy factory are under water to \ a depth of lour feet. Other parts are flooded to a lessee extent. Near Marokopa factory thirty feet of road was; completely washed away. .\ . - Floods in the Kiretehere district are said to be the worst fof thirty years. It will be impossible for the mail ca" to get through for several days. Between Te Kuiti and Piopio passengers on the service cars had to tranship by means of a dray, the water being up to the floors. Gars were only able to get to Mahoenui yesterday, owing to a- slip o n the Awakino Valley Road. Slips have occurred frequently along this roacl, faster than the gangs could clear them. It is reported that the Awakino and Mokau rivers have both burst- their banks At Piooio 7.18 inches of rain fell in 52 hours. Thirteen cars are stranded, and three last night ooifld not get either way. A settler named Falk had to leave his house at Piopio owing to the flood. Conditions show an improvement there to-day. Lines are down between Te Kuiti and Marokopa, and there was no news this morning.
