HAWERA SCHOOL JUBILEE.
(To the Edifor). ■ > Sir, —As one of the old pupils who attended the recent celebrations of the school jubilee, may I compliment the committee and the secretary, Mrs J, P. Page, in particular, on the success of its efforts in providing such a pleasant evening’s entertainment Y Thoughthe speeches were a shade wearisome at times, especially for the younger generation: the function afforded great pleasure to - the older pupils of the school. The most pe'asant part of the evening, to me, was the 1 interval after the supper, when I, in common with many more, had an opportunity of re- / new mg acquaintances with old school mates. In the remarks of Mr Collins, that gentleman suggested that it would be a ■ good idea if an old pupils’ association werO formed, and I heard several expressions of approva l of the suggestion after the entertainment. jl ' think that if a' meeting were called in the near future- with that aim in view there would he no difficulty _ip giving effect to the proposal. Trusting that the matter will he taken up heartily, and that next year will see the first of what wi l ! afterwards lannual gatherings, I am, etc.. GEO. S. WATT. 3. Hawera. '
