CHILLED MEAT
AUSTRALIAN EXPERIMENT.
ENDS SUCCESSFULLY
FIRST CONSIGNMENT SOLD. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Mav 15, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. The first cargo of Australian chilled meat, constituting 71 quarters of u beef, has been placed in Smithfield market, and received considerable comment. The trade was impressed by its. condi--tion, which was excellent, notwithstanding the 65 days’ passage. The only criticism was about the dullness of colour, which was considered to be due to the length of the voyage. The consignment, although of an experimental nature, sold readily at prices about equal to South American chilled meat. —Reuter. <
