NEW ZEALAND UNION. THE INVITATION TO FRANCE. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union on Wednesday, some details were given of the invitation to be sent to the French Union for 1926. The invitation will be sent through Mr C. J. Wray. Mr Dean explained that the French team would be offered exact'y the same terms as had been offered to the British team —viz., se-cond-class steamer fares and first-class fares on the New Zealand railways. Air Wylie suggested that the French team should be asked to play twentyfive matches in the Dominion. A sub-committee was set up to draft a scheme for the tour and submit this to the next meeting. It was agreed to advise the New South Wales Union that an invitation was being issued to France to send a team to New Zealand, and asking New South Wales if it was prepared to. play four or five matches against the French team. It urns decided to notify clubs that seeing the English Union had granted a dispensation, and the New Zealand Referees’ Association had notified under a misapprehension that, in cases of penalty kicks at goal the kicker may place the bad such rule come into force forthwith. The chairman stated that in the past the English Union had been lax in notifying New Zealand and New South Wales of amendments to the rules, hut he was assured when at Home that notifications would he forwarded promptly in future. ■ NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR. The decision to include 1924 All B'acks in the team, for New South Wales has been received, according to a. cable from that union, with the greatest satisfaction. The cable adds that this would ensure the financial success of the tour.
