OPINION IN U.S.A. ADDRESS TO N.Z. ALLIANCE. (BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.) • WELLINGTON, May 8. The New Zealand Alliance adopted a resolution sending greetings and welcome to the Governor-General, this being the first opportunity the annua! . leeting has had of greeting him. Mr Harry N. Holmes, executive secretary of the Council of Churches in U S A., addressed the meeting on the inwardness of the American situation. He stated that the majority of opinion in the United States is firmly behind the prohibition law, and that national sentiment, is in favour of increasing enforcement. The problem of enfoi cement was a difficult one, in i iew ot the mixed alien elements m the population, hut wonder! n! progiess uas being made.
