Cabinet has made available the report of the New States Commission, which finds any now State impracticable and undesirable. A minority report says a. new State in the north is praitoicaible, but under-the existing conditions is undesirable. Cabinet has not made a. decision on the findings of -the commission. Twelve hundred workmen employed in the Federal territory at Canberra struck work -as a result of a meeting, which decided that the damping conditions' on the capital site were unsatisfactory.
