LONDON, May 5In reply to questions in the House of Commons, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Winston Churchill) said legislative sanction would be given to the new Imperial preference proposals in the Finance Bill this year. Asked whether the Bill was drafted so that opponents of preference could make an effective amendment, Mr Churchill replied that lie could not anticipate the publication of the text of the Bill-

Lieut.-Colonel Heneage, Conservative member for Louth, suggested a mutual arrangement with the Dominions by which men and women could receive old age pensions who at present were debarred because they had spent some of the qualifying period in the Dominions. Mr Churchill said he would take note of the suggestion, which would require legislation.
