A communique from Morocco i,stated th ait the French centre column cleared the Taounait heights after fierce resistance, the enemy consisting of regulars assisted. >by local tribesmen. A telegram from Fez, published in Le Temps, says the French lost four officers and 4.4 men were killed, while 150 were wounded. 'lhe Riffs’ casualties were ten times greater. French correspondents in Morocco admit that France is faced with many difficulties. It is estimated that Abdel Krirn has 5000 regulars and 1500 volunteers.. The Riffs are well .supplied with wireless, (aeroplanes and artillery. The latter’s shooting is so good that the French are wondering whether the gunners are Arabs.
