HAWERA MALE CHOIR.

THE SEASON’S FIRST CONCERT, j An excellent programme has been ar- , ranged for the opening concert cl the ■ 1925 season of the Hawera Male Choir, ! which will be held at the Opera House j to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. In addition to the choral numbers there will he selections' by the Male Choir orchestra, specially formed to assist the choir. The choir numbers will include many part songs, of various styles, so as to suit all tastes. The members have been working very assiduously under their conductor, Mr. Clement Howe, and their part songs are going exceedingly well. The orchestra includes many of the best players in Hawera, and they will contribute several capital selections. Their work is certain to be popular. The soloist of the evening will he Miss Myra Sawyer, a Wellington soprano of whom excellent reports have Ireen received, and whose singing lias been the subject of very favourable comment bv critics in the city. One of the songs chosen by her is “V illanelli,” of which a musical critic reported in Wellington that “it showed off some beautiful middle notes. The trills and bravura passages were sung with perfect ease.” It will thus be seen that honorary members and supporters of the choir are oromised a verv fine concert. Seats should he booked at Everybody’s Store.
