TABANAKI TOURNAMENT,
MRS. COLLINSON CHAMPION
A conclusion was reached yesterday in the annual Taranaki Indies; golt, championship meeting at New Flymouth. when Mrs Cojlinson, of Palmerston North, beat Mrs Broderick, of Wanganui, in the linal after a good contest. Mrs Coliinson lias thus won the championship twice in succession. The weather conditions were much improved, but it was cold, flie com so was in capital order and the greens very true and fast. . , lii the semi-finals Mrs Broderick beat Mrs Grace 1 up, and Mrs Coliinson beat Miss Bolls 8 up and 1. The play crenerally was very good and keen. " In the final play was very even, and though the winner was three up at che turn, her opponent held her for part or the second nine, and reduced the lead somewhat. She then struck a bact patch, and at the sixteenth Mrs Coliin sou, with a pretty three, to,ok the ho'e and the match, four up and two, to play. A medal handicap yesterday was won by Miss Shaw, ol New Plymouth, Miss L. Quin, with a gross 97 being well up in the list. - Misses L. and M. Quin won a, tour ball bogey handicap, with the remaiKably fine card of seven up on the t-ol-one'. The next, best was all square. At the conclusion of the tournament the president of the New Plymouth Club (Dr. E. A. Walker) piesented the prizes to the successful competitors. The secretary (Mrs S. 13. Williams) is entitled to ‘great credit for her excellent work, Mr H. Dempsey for acting as starter, and the groundsmen I'or their attention to the course- i 13e\ow are given the names of tne •jrize-wimiers for the tournament.: Championship.
