A BIG EFFORT.
TO REACH AUSTRALIA
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK. April 12. Paul Klugh, of the United States Association,' announced that, in connection with the wireless tests, American stations of super-power will be used (three of which have installed 5000-watt transmitters) at quarter-hour intervals. These stations will broadcast in an effort to fie heard in Australia. Station WAHG, on Long Island, employing 315 metres, will broadcast a locomotive bell ; station WOR, Newark, employing 405 metres, will broadcast chimes for identification; station WLW, Cincinatti. employing 422 metres, will broadcast “The ' Star Spangled Banner” ; station WCCO. Minneapolis, employing 416 metres, will broadcast “Rule, Britannia”; station AVHAG, Chicago, employing 448 metres, will broadcast the song “Over There” ; station WCC. Davenport, employing 484 metres, will broadcast bugle calls; station KFI, Los Angeles, employing 369 metres, will broadcast “God Save tfie King.” All this broadcasting will occur between 4 and 6 a.m. on April 16. New York time.
