SEARCH FOR LAND. AIRCRAFT TO BE USED. AMBITIOUS AMERICAN PLANS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received April 7, 9.10 a.m.) NEW YORK, April G. An expedition of naval aircraft, under the command of Donald B. MacMillan, will in the summer attempt to ascertain whether or not a continent exists in the million square miles between Alaska and the North Pole. Two Thanes of the Loenig amphibian type, piloted by naval officers, have been granted leave for the project, which is being backed by the National Geographical Society. The expedition sails for Exelheiburg Land in June, from the northern point of which the flights will commence. If lands are discovered they could be used as flight bases for the Europe-Asia route. , i Exploration, of Nourse ruins at Labrador and Greenland will be made, and the recovery of Captain Peary’s records at Cape Columbia will be attempted. Extensive radio experiments are also proposed.
