The board decided to tender their sincere ®yrap-why w the Prime Minister, Hon. W. F. Massey, in. his illness. The chan-man. said that/ at such a time political differences should be put aside and only Mr. Massey’s loyalty to the Empire and capabilities considered. Mr Corrigan, ip seconding; the • motion of sympathy, said that although politically opposed to Mr. Massey he could ®ay that the Prime Minister had been a. wonderful man and had gone through very strenuous times during the past few years. The chairman said he was sorry 5> learn from the harbour master that there wa® a- lot, of stand inside the' western, wall. It wa® two yearsi since similar trouble had occurred. hut a good fresh or n, good spring tide would ■scour the snofl out. It wa® left with tibo chairman to .dispose of an oil launch engine which vros not required Kv the board. It was decided -to erect a telephone extension from. +;ho. pilot’s station, to the mouth of the river.
JHARIBOUR MASTER’S REPORT. The harbour master re-{)orted that the bar and the water between the walla wa® very shallow at present, caused by sand drifting- rohnd the western wall and inrnfhcien.t water coming down the river to-scouir it out. He sounded the bar on the 2+th and got 12ft of water with lift Gin. between the wall® and 9ft 6in on the tide gauge; There had been 23 arrivals and 21' departures since hi® last monthly report. He sounded the river on the- 2nd and found it in good order. Tidesi had not been, suitable during the past fortnight for dredging, but this week dredging work would be carried out along the- wharves, if the ba r were smooth and' the tides good. DREDGE MASTER’S REPORT. The dredge master (Mr. A. Mercer) reported that during the past month he had only been, able to employ the dredge for -ten days, lifting in that time 1260 cubic, yard® of spoil, as compared with 3840 cubic yard® during the previous! month. The river had been keeping good, due, he thought, to the very dry month. Both report®! were adopted.
