So far no deaths have occurred. WESTRALIAN LIQUOR VOTE. ' PERTH, April 5. A vote on prohibition was taken and the polling was very heavy. The figures to midnight show: For prohibition, 15,140; against prohibition, 26,381. (Received April 6, 10.30 a.in.) PERTH, April 6. In the prohibition poll the latest count shows: For prohibition, 34,952; against, 62,304. CARTAGE CONTRACTS. SYDNEY, April.s. The report of the Royal Commissioner inquiring into the City Council’s cartage contracts has been forwarded to the Government. It is drastically adverse to the council’s methods of accepting tenders, and severely censures one alderman. So far the report has been kept secret. MORE SPORTS GROUNDS WANTED LONDON, April 4. A striking appeal has been issued, signed by prominent leaders of all sections of the communitv, including Lord Burnham. Lord Harris, the Earl of Oxford, Earl Haig, the Bishop of London. Mr Ramsay MacDonald, Mr Lloyd George and Sir John Simon, pleading for a national movement for the provision of a more adequate number of playihg 'fields throughout the country.
