PLEA FOR PEACE.
MINERS’ LEADER’S ANSWER. by Cable—press association—copyright. -LONDON, March 29. Mr Cook, the •liners’ leader, at Bullwell said: li We have now prepared the necessary machinery to establish by right what we failed to secure by reason. The Tories ancl Liberals have shown a united front in order to defeat the miners’ claim, which is an object lesson to the workers. “Mr Stanley Baldwin’s plea for peace in industry is merely peace for profitmaking. There is plenty of money for armaments, but little for a living wage for miners. Four hundred idle pits and 120,000 unemployed miners bear witness to the ravages of capitalists. We are determined to ensure that industry shall serve mankind instead of making slaves of human beings.”
