The King, tlLscussing the possibility of Mesopotamia aiss.uiming full responsibility for the defence of the country., said that if ~necessary conscription would be introduced, but the consequences would he grave it Britain withdrew her troops at present-. He said: “We are striving in every way to reduce the charge on Britain. Tibeto has been a- istendly decrease in Britain’s expenditure in. Mesopotamia since 1919.” King Faisal expressed the hope that the A.nglo-Per.sian Oil Company would -soon pay royalties on their concessions, which would add to the country’s revenue.
