PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

WELLINGTON, March 24
The professional golf championship opened at .Heretnvmga to-day in splendid weather. There are large entries from all over New Zealand, but general regret- was expressed at the ansenee of Moss' (the holder). In the stroke handicap, T. Galloway, who is not yet 18 years of age, and whose father was also competing, returned a net 75. On the return journey he was under bogey. G. JL Forrest (Timaru) also showed up well. lie returned 76. Others were: .1. A. Clements (Hagley Park) 79, H. R. Blair (Shirley), A. J. Shaw (Wellington), H. Green (Wellington) 80, J. R. Galloway (Palmerston North), F. G. Hood (Miramar) 81, J. Mclntosh 82, G. W. Ritchie (New Plymouth) R, C. Butters'(Wanganui), B. J. Smith (Oamaru) 85: The championship commences tomorrow.
