WHEAT PRICES.

i DRASTIC DECLINE.

BY CAELE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT

NEW YORK, March 17. Stock prices broke precipitately, coincident with the drastic decline of grain futures here, in Chicago and Winnipeg. Chicago wheat quotations are as follow: Alay, 152$ cents per bushel; July, 139$ cents; September, 131 cents. Wheat recorded one of the most sensational drops in the history of the Chicago Board of Trade when the Alay price dropped to 153$ cents, representing a, loss of 11$ cents from the previous close. Traders dumped their holding overboard following reports that Europe was glutted with breadstuffs, and that huge quantities of wheat shipped from this country could find no market and were being returned to the owners.

A terrific smash in prices during the first five minutes of trading wiped out scores of small traders.
