PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr G. Witty, Liberal M.P. for Riccarton, who has voted with the Government on all no-confidence motions since last election, will no longer- carry the official Liberal-Labour colours. Whether or not the sitting member seeks re-election, the party will nin another candidate next election. The appointment is gazetted of Thomas Kay Lane to be deputy registrar of births, deaths and marriages at lvaponga; also of Frederick James Shearer to a similar position at Opunake.

Mr J, L. Campbell was the guest of honour at a complimentary dinner given by the Eltham Pipe Band prior to his departure for the Old Country. .Appreciative references were made during the evening of the guest’s work on behalf of the district, and he was made the recipient of a number of presentations. It is with the deepest regret that we have to record the death of Nancy Mary, twin daughter of Mr James Hunter, the well-known five-eighth of the 1905 All Black team. The deceased, who was 11 years of age, died suddenly in the Wanganui Hospital. The following resolution was carried unanimously at a meeting of the Stratford Jersey Cattle Club: “This meeting of members of the Stratford Jersey Cattle Club expresses -most sincere regret at the untimely adeath of their president, Mr. Frank Ranforcl, and extends to Mrs. Ranford and her family heartfelt sympathy in the irreparable less sustained by them; this meeting desires to place on record their realisation and keen appreciation of the numerous services rendered by their late president, not only to the club as a body, but to members individually and breeders of Jersey cattle as a. whole; this meeting is deeply sensible of the fact that any success which the Stratford Jersey .Club has attained is largely due to his untiring energy, the ability which he possessed and the skill with which he handled difficult /problems.—Post.
