LURE OF THE CITY.

YOUNG MEN DESERTING FARMS. LONDON, February 23 . Lord Biedisloe, who is president of a number of agricultural societies, finds that in England, as 4n Australia, too many young men from the country are being lured to the city by higher wages and attractive conditions. He urges the introduction of the profit-sharing system on farms, and the development, of the social side of rural life to keep men on the land. The agricultural correspondent of The Westminster Gazette says farmers consider the payment, of higher wages to lie impossible, though the introduction of women employees in the dairies assists the situation.
