WAS A FABRICATION
BANK CLERK’S CONFESSION
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPY iUCHT , MELBOURNE, March 5. Trevor Thomson, of Swanhill, a bank clerk lias confessed to the police that his story of an assault by two men was a fabrication.
A message published on February 20 stated: Returning home late at night, Trevor Thomson, an employee of the Bank of New South Wales at Swanhill, was accosted by two men and asked whether he had the keys ot the bank. Refusing to give the information, Thomson was gagged and bound and forced to swallow a quantity of liquid. Recovering consciousness four hours later he found himself lying half a mile from the scene of the attack. Thomson luckily had not the bank keys. The same night a business place at Swanhill was broken into, but the thieves failed to open the safe.
