NEW SAINTS

> PROPOSED CANONISATION

FORMULA TO BE PREPARED

SOME SUGGESTED NAMES

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT, (Received Feb. 19, 9.10 a.m.) l-ONDON, Feb. 18. ‘•What is a saint asked Archdeacon Clevedon when the House of Clergy and the Church assembled and was discussing suggested additions to the list of saints. “The Church reply to the gibe that Anglicanism has not the method of making saints is that we are content to produce them.” The names submitted included Charles the First, Henry the Sixth, Florence Nightingale. Anthony Ashley Cooper (Lord Shaftsbury), Wyciiffe, John Wesley, Keble, Archbishop Laud, and Cramner. The Rev. A. Atkinson deplored canonisation so late in the day. The meeting, at the direction of the Archbishop, will draw up a formula for the creation of new saints and investigate the claims of each.—Sydney Sun Cable.
