Wood was top scorer with 53, and he saved the side from collapse. Orr made 13, Stapleton 10, Holland 24, Treadwell 36, Tronson 14, Williams 11. Newman took five wickets for 48 and Haycock two for 21. When stumps were drawn Nelson had made 17 without loss. SOUTH TARANAKI GAMES. Cricketers were favoured with fine weather on Saturday for their games. Stratford B easily beat, Eltham on Saturday on the Stratford wicket. The winners" in their innings made 205 for lour wickets, and declared. Cottier got CL Beere 49 not out, Fowler 34, Chat ton 22, Richardson 18 not out, and Rudkin 17. EUlia.ni could only get 54 in the first innings and 71 in the second, Lewis 30 in the first innings and Waiter 15 and Wilnvslnmst 11 in the second being the only batsmen, to o-et doubles. Bowling for Stratford, Beere took six wickets for, 33 runs, Trotter four for 16, Richardson two for 6, Gatton four for 13 and Williams two for 14.
Hawera Technical H.S. proved too crond for Midland B at Hawera. Batting first the latter could only make 39. no one getting double figures. Choevers five for 20 and Allen five for 17 were very deadly with, the ball. Technical reolied with 72. of which Oven 13 and Walter 11 were
