DRY SPELL BROKEN.

BRILLIANT LIGHTNING WITNESSED.

Welcome rain commenced to fall on Saturday night, and continued at intervals during the week-end. As it was aptly expressed some time ago on a similar occasion, one could almost hear the cheers of the farmers in recognition. The rain will mean thousands to the province.

About half-past two this morning there was a very brilliant display of lightning, sheet and forked, mainly in the north-eastern sky. The whole of that aspect was lit up as brightly as day, and it was altogether a wonderful sight.
