NOVEL RECEPTION

The reception to the All Blacks at Calgary had two spectacular features. Before a huge crowd 10 Red Indian chiefs, with tneir squaws and braves decked in all the splendour of native raiment, met the Maori members on the invitation of the Lieutenant-Gover-nor (Mr Brett) and the Premier (Mr Greenfield). Cowboys mingled with the throng. The natives of the two countries studied each other closely for the first time on record. Following a motor tour of the city, cowboys staged a unique banquet and ball at the leading hotel. The assemblage was clad in varied garb. Finally it was startled by a terrifying yell of a veteran cowboy' as he rode a. horse straight into the rotunda and gave a real western whoop up. The All Blacks left on Saturday morning for Banff as guests for two days of the Winter Carnival.—Sydney Sun Cable. CANADIAN TOUR. Alberta, to-day rejoice- in entertaining your wonderful young men and a-re proud ;of our friendship with you.—Herbert Greenfield.’’ The Premier renlied: “Appreciate generous hospitality extended by your citizens to our hoys. New , Zealand sends cordial greetings to her Canadian kins folk. —Massey.”
