EXPORTS AND IMPORTS

LARGE INCREASE IN WOOL. \
(by telegraph—press association.! WELLINGTON Feb. 3. Imports for 1924 were valued at £48,527,603 and exports at £52,612,7 i 1, the largest volume yet recorded, except in 1920 when there was an import boom. Trade is now regarded as about normal. One feature is an increase of exports to Germany, mainly wool, from £190,600 to £1,166,302. The principal items of imports were wheat, £1,039,774, sugar £1,594,342, tea £920,985, apparel £2,056,861, cottons £2,118,539, motor spirit £1’600,053 electrical machinery £2,056,454, timber , £1,042,329, motor vehicles £3,541,635.
The principal exports were butler £11,641,608, cheese £7,023,297, lamb £5,931,746. muttoa £2,539,233, beef £802,157, tallow £799,220, pelts £1,195, 889, hides £825,129, wool £15,267,364. Wool shows an increase Of over four millions.
