Mr. Cosgrave’s first public appearance in Dublin since his return from a holiday in France was attended hv considerable disturbance. The occasion was a big demonstration on College Green in support of Government candidates at by-elections for the Dail caused by the resignation of members of the National group. Portion of an immense crowd endeavoured to obstruct the proceedings, a number of women, jwth male supporters, keeping up a cry, “Up with the Republic,” “Up with De Valera.” Over two hundred police had a busy time endeavouring to preserve order" There were exciting incidents when the interrupters were eiected and three were assaulted. Several free fights occurred at the conclusion of th meeting.—Reuter.
