PERRY BROS’ CIRCUS.

AN ATTRACTIVE SHOW

Tlie initial performance in Hawera of Perry Bros circus was not favoured with a large audience, owing to the strict injunction of the Director-General o,f Perry Bros’, circus was not favoured persons under the age of 16 years. Nevertheless, the show was a really meritorious one, and patrons who came expecting to witness the usual stunts and hear the same old jokes were agreeably surprised. The programme went with a swing from start tot finish, and clever acting and moments of tense excitement were the order; of the i evening. The Perry Brothers in their flying trapeze net struck the right note for the opening turn, -and their wonderful exchanges in mid-air drew from the crowd rounds of well-earned applause. Tumblers, in a series of dexterous movements, next held the attention of the audience, and this success was followed up later by Miss Lizzie Maekie executing skipping and dancing on the back of a galloping horse. The work ot some juvenile, contortionists was pleasing. as was that of three lady members of the company, who, hanging by their teeth, gave a thrilling exhibition of mid-air trapeze work. Le Henri, the bounding jockey, threw some surprising somersaults from the backs of moving'horses. while Alberto, on the tight wire, provided some of the best feats of the evening. The elephant was most amusing in his act with the clowns, and the boxing and football ponies took their parts well. A feature of 'the evening was the high jumping by Lone Star, a Sydney Royal Show winner, lvis clean jumping winning the admiration of all present. The acrobatic clowns kept the audience fully amused between the turns, and, taking everything right through if rnay be said that the performance gave everv satisfaction. There will be a repetition qf the programme to-night.
