Treasurer Hamuguehi, in his Budget speech in the Diet, stated that strict economy and financial adjustment continued to he the policy of the Government. Curtailment of expenditure m 1924 totalled forty-eight million, while in 1925 the figures would show a- reduction of ninety-one million on the revised expenditure of 1924; The Treasurer announced that, with a. view to remedying the exchange position, specie reserves would he released at the occasion dmanded. and efforts would, be made to improve the trade situation, for which the neeessarv Bill would he introduced into the Diet.
