TOBACCO TRUST’S PROFITS'. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION'—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Jail. 21. A sensational rise in profits from tobacco is disclosed by an announcement that the total dividend of the Imperial Tobaeeo Company in 1924 was 224 per cent., requiring seven and a-lialf" millions sterling for payment. Half a million lias been placed to reserve, a quarter, of a million to the pension fund, and half a million carried forward. Share bonuses since 1916 amounted to IS3 1-3 per cent., totalling thirteen millions sterling of free gift capital, which is also participating in tax free dividend.
