C.E.M.S.

ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Elthnin Correspondent). There was a line attendance of members of the above Omo at tr_e annual meeting held last evening. The president (Mr Tipiady) presideu. ■ The income for the year was £537 os 9d, and the expenditure amounted to £571 Is 6d. and the balance in hand was £8 5s lOd. The assets of the club over liabilities were £1491 9s 2d. The repcit stated that although there was a small deficit on the year's financial working, as shown by the balancesheet, yet there was no cause for any uneasiness with regard to the future financial outlook. The committee for the previous year had decided that the financial obligations of the club warranted an increase on the annual subscriptions from £1 to £1 10s, and in view of the many advantages enjoyed by members it does not appear that the amount could in any way be deemed excessive. A 10s rebate had been offeied on all subs, paid before March l, thus bringing the sub. dowi) to last year’s amount. The lack of attendance during the early part of the year had caused the committee some concern, but the. inauguration of the Yankee tournament for billiards and snooker had considerably-improved the position. The entires were very satisfactory, and the competition keen for the various trophies. The winners were:—Billiards: Mr M. Kitchen 1. Mr F. CTemow 2, Mr F. Vincent 2. Snooker: Mr M.-Kitchen 1, Mr F. Clernow 2, Mr J. Gibson 3. Expenses in connection with reconstruction with regard to mortgages falling due and unexpected calls on debentures more than account for the small deficit.

The president, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, stated that members generally should realise that the club was their personal concern and its progress was largely in their hands. By their cooperation and the usefulness of the club could be extended. The motion was seconded by Air. F. Clemow.

Air. Bridget* asked if the price for the land was 'correctly stated in the balance-sheet, namely, £BIO, as it appeared very high. , Air. T. Stanners explained that £BIO was the price Air. Wilkinson had on the section, but lie had given the land free to the committee. After some discussion on the value of, the land the report was adopted. Election of Officers. President, Mr, J.
